Grandma: The Aftermath

As to be expected, the grand kids are going through grandma withdrawal. And yes mama jane we know you'll have guilt for, oh about, 1 minute before you look outside at your fabulous garden and check the temp to see that it's 80 degrees outside and apply another coat of maui brown. But maybe, just maybe we can extend that 1 minute to 2 minutes with this story & illustration (good thing my camera was randomly in my closet)...

Background: This morning I was in my closet getting dressed to go run some errands and in walks Alex. The following is our "conversation"

Alex: Hey mama!! What's goin' on?
Me: Just getting ready. Want to go to the store?
Alex: uuuhhh. No. Go to grandma's?
Me: No, we can't. Grandma is in Hawaii.
Alex: Grandma? Go to Grandma's??? (imagine increasing of pitch and whinyness)
Me: Alex, we can't. We will see grandma in Hawaii. Grandma is gone.

Alex then proceeded to flop on the ground in despair... ... and then hide himself in my clothes while he dried his eyes. Good thing he likes chocolate...thus the grin.
That helped him get over grandma leaving us....for now. Tomorrow is another day.
