To get away from my children and in an effort to regain some sanity, I dove into some sewing. Which is great and all but we all know I:
1) lack patience (potato cooking anyone?)
2) sewing isn't my strong point. or even mediocre point.
I had all but given up on sewing after fruitless attempts to figure out the ridiculous patterns but then during my re-packing of clothes choices for Africa, I came across two shirts that I don't ever {ever ever} wear and thought "self, that would make a cute dress for leila." So that's what I did.
Behold the results! I put it next to the other shirt that will soon be a dress too so you can get an idea of what I made it out of. Awesome. I know.

and this is without a pattern? i'm impressed even if it is with one. next you'll have a booth at the church preparedness fair, watch out!
No pattern! Well unless you count me using a sleeveless dress of leila's to lay on top of the shirt while I cut out the shape. So I guess there was a pattern... I didn't just snip here and there! :) I had to figure out the sleeves on my own. The seams aren't neat and tidy on the inside but all I care is that it looks good on the outside!
i'm still impressed. do you know how many unfinished sewing projects and never opened patterns i threw away this summer? and this was over 30 years of collecting.
